How To Get A Part-Time (Saturday) Job

Hello Everyone!
I don't know about you but I have wanted a part-time job for a long time! But after doing a bit of research and waiting until I reach the legal age to work in the UK (13 years old), I have decided to venture into the world of work, and here I hope to share with you how I am doing it!

CV (Curriculum Vitae)

As most of you will know, a CV is normally required to apply for certain jobs. Think of it as it is, written form of your Education, Work Experience, Skills, Interests and Achievements as well as References. To read more on how to get a good CV click here
These are the results from one survey from employers, with what potential bosses were most looked for in a CV.

What type to look for

  • Try in Hairdressers and Beauty Salons for part-time work as a receptionist or drinks maker
  • Cafes can also use a hand with a waitress, so be sure to try local cafes
  • Local newsagents are also a safe bet, but so are any local shops
  • Chain shops can also pay more, as they obviously earn more money.
How to ask

  • Don't make a script, as it might seem too "rigid" when you ask and also, if you forget a line you might get horribly stuck
  • Be polite "I wondered if I could speak to somebody about a part-time job...?"
  • Know roughly what to say, and expect questions such as "How old are you?" and "What experience do you have?"
  • Don't be nervous, simply ask and if they say no, don't be disheartened, offer your CV!
Tips!
  • Once you've done good work for someone, ask if you can use them as a reference for future jobs (work experience)
  • More work  experience makes it easier to find a job!
  • If you go to a school with a good reputation, make sure to include it's name in your CV!
Warnings!
  • NEVER talk about your personal life with your boss!
  • You must be prepared to earn money - you don't get paid for nothing!
  • Be prepared to face rejection, you can't expect to get a job from the first shop you walk into!

I hope this has helped you,
love from The Blogging Box xx
